Widford School, Ware Road, Widford, Hertfordshire

This school was built in 1875-6. After the 1870 Education Act the small school from 1829 was considered to be "altogether unsuitable". Therefore the Rector Rev. Henry Hamond and an elected local school board built this school for 110 children. The Act was designed to build more schools and provide an education for children who had not previously been able to attend school.
