Wigton House, Clerkenwell, London

Clerkenwell was originally inhabited by people working in the City of London, but has developed its own identity. The large collection of buildings in the centre of the picture makes up Wigton House; originally a factory building the site has been redeveloped and converted into private apartments. The area was severely damaged in World War II and many of the slums in the region were subsequently demolished.
