Windmill, Climping, East Sussex

Climping smock mill was built in 1799 to replace an earlier mill. It ceased working in about 1900. The mill was converted into a house in the 1920s, when the additional accommodation shown was added. In 1962 the mill was found to be infested with death-watch beetle and the top was dismantled. Find out more about windmills and watermills in our Teachers' Kit - Mills.
