Workers at Cunard Shell Works, Rimrose Road, Bootle, Merseyside

These workers were all too old, too young or medically exempt from serving in the army during World War I. Due to the heavy nature of the work at this site there were fewer women than at many other factories, and presumably those present were photographed separately.
