Description

The New Hambro Synagogue stood at the corner of Union Street and Holloway Street, Union Street was renamed Adler Street in 1913, possibly in honour of Chief Rabbi Dr Hermann Adler who had died in 1911. The synagogue closed in 1936 but the building remained in use as a reading room and is shown on an Aerofilms photograph from 1955, EAW059521. It had been demolished by the 1990s and The Dryden Building, an apartment block occupies the site.
