Description

The wall paintings date from the early 14th century and were discovered in the mid-20th century. On the north wall of the nave are fragmentary paintings; on the south wall the painting is divided into two tiers, the top tier representing the life of St Margaret of Antioch, and the bottom tier depicting the tale of the Three Living and Three Dead. This medieval allegory tells of three noblemen who, whilst hunting, come upon three animated corpses who warn them of the transience of life and admonish them for neglecting their memory.
