Description

The photographer’s notes state: ‘Nos 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 St James's Barton (north side). No 12 is the high stone house on the left, and no 16 is the corner house just to the left of the lamp standard in the foreground of the picture. No 12 probably designed by John Strahan.'

Noted in red: ‘No 16 demolished spring 1937 for the widening of Barton Street. No 13 gutted in an air raid before June 1941. No 15 demolished 1952 or 53? No 14 demolished 1955 or 56. No 12, and No 11 adjoining on left were demolished in June 1960.'
