Description

This sculpture is one of four created by Joseph Pitts in the 1850s. The sculptures were commissioned by porcelain manufacturers Coalport, and were based on 'The Faerie Queene' by Edmund Spenser. On the reverse of this card is printed an extract from the third book of 'The Faerie Queene' titled 'Britomartis Releasing Amoret'.
