Description

The photograph is one of a set taken for Lord Carrington showing Carrington House his residence at 8 Whitehall Yard (formerly known as Gower House), shortly before it was demolished in 1886 and later to be replaced by the War office building. The Bedford Lemere daybook records that the architects of this building were Sir William Chambers and Philip Hardwick.
