Description

The Salutation and Cat had entrances on Rose Street and at 17 Newgate Street. In 1882, it was registered as Salutation Hotel & Tavern, although 'Salutation & Cat Tavern' can be seen in the pub window, and the name has also been recorded in the Bedford Lemere daybook. The image also shows 4 Rose Street, the premises of Aron Adolphe, fan maker, with men standing outside.
