Description

Wollaton Hall was built in 1580-1588 by Robert Smythson for Sir Francis Willoughby, although the Bedford Lemere daybook incorrectly lists the architect as John of Padua. The image was taken for Viscount Middleton, owner of Wollaton Hall at the time. In 1925 the building was converted into the Natural History Museum for the City of Nottingham.
