Moncorvo House was built 1878-1880 to designs by the architect John Macvicar Anderson. It was commissioned by Albert George Sandeman, and named in honour of Mrs Sandeman, whose father was the Visconde da Torre de Moncorvo. In 1886 the house was purchased by the Due D'Aumale, the forth son of King Louis Philippe. The building was later used as the London Headquarters of the Canadian Joint Staff Establishment (1951-1963), and the Moroccan Embassy (1963). It was demolished in 1964.
