Description

The house shown in this image is thought to be on the west side of Central Avenue. This part of Hampton was developed in the late 19th century and a number of smart Victorian villas lined the newly constructed roads. An illustration showing a house of the same design appears in the international edition of American Architect and Building News (July 26 1890), crediting Herbert Knight as architect. It is described as 'House For Mr. George Everett, Hampton-On-Thames, Enlgand, 1890'. The area around Central Avenue was demolished around the turn of the 20th century to make way for Stain Hill Reservoirs.
