S J Waring & Sons, cabinet makers, later merged with the furniture makers Gillows of Lancaster, to form Waring and Gillow. The business had retail premises on Bold Street and workshops in St Anne Street, shown in this photograph taken for S J Waring & Sons. The City Hotel at 38 St Anne Street, can also be seen on the right of the workshops.
