Description

J R Findley built Well Court, a social housing project containing apartments and a community hall for workers, as a philanthropic gesture. The design was meant to encourage the development of a close knit community as found in tenements in the city. It was designed by Sydney Mitchell. The site was overlooked by Findley's grand new town house in Rothesay Terrace and part of his reason for building Well Court seems to have been to improve his view of the then industrial Dean Village.
