17 Grosvenor place was the London home of the Hull shipowner Arthur Wilson, for whom the image was taken. The daybook mentions the architect George Devey in relation to this image. The building was actually designed by Thomas Cundy III, but it is possible that the staircase or some aspect of design in the hall was by Devey.
