Description

The Royal English Opera House was commissioned by Richard D'Oyly Carte in the late 1880's, it was designed by Thomas Collcutt with the architect G H Holloway. After the failure of the venture as an opera house, it was sold in 1892 and converted into a variety theatre known as the Palace Theatre of Varieties. It is now the Palace Theatre.
