The image was taken for Lady Randolph Churchill; the young Winston Churchill would have been resident at the address during this period. The Bedford Lemere daybook mentions A Gibbons, probably the interior designer. It also notes 'Lady's Pictorial', probably a reference to the inclusion of this image in the illustrated magazine of that name.
