The house was built 1888-1890 to designs by W H Romaine-Walker and Tanner for Miss Mabel Walker, and later her husband, Lieutenant L Walker-Munro, for whom the image was taken. The Bedford Lemere daybook records the subject of this photograph as Mr Munro's room.
