Description

The composer Sir Arthur Sullivan, sat on the Board of Directors of the Savoy Hotel. The hotel was financed by the profits from the Gilbert and Sullivan partnership for which the adjacent Savoy Theatre was built in 1880 specifically for the production of Gilbert and Sullivan operas. The names of the rooms in the hotel reflect this relationship.
