Description

The photograph was taken for George Robert Sims, novelist, poet and playwright, who lived at 12 Clarence Terrace from the 1890s to 1922. The terrace was built in 1823 by James Burton and designed by Decimus Burton under the supervision of John Nash as part of his Regent's Park Crown Estate development. The terrace is now numbered 1-43, probably after reconstruction in 1965, but at the time the photograph was taken there were 12 houses.
