The main entrance of the Adelphi Bank building, built in 1892, at the corner of Castle Street and Brunswick Street. The bronze doors with sculpted reliefs were created by Thomas Stirling Lee.

Description

The Bedford Lemere daybook records that the architect of this building was W D Caroe MA, which refers to William Douglas Caröe (1857-1938). The bronze doors with reliefs depicting the theme of brotherly love were made by Thomas Stirling Lee. 'Adelphi' means 'brothers' in Greek.
