Description

In the Bedford Lemere daybook the building is referred to as Salisbury Court, but on the original negative enclosure label notes it is referred to as the Hotel Cecil, designed by architects Reed and Perry. It was later demolished in 1930 to be replaced by Shell-Mex House. The photograph was taken for the 'Liberator Society' which refers to the Liberator Permanent Building & Investment Society, formerly the largest building society in the country which collapsed in 1892 .
