Description

The photograph shows the newly rebuilt and expanded premises designed for the Institution by Charles Barry. Originally the ICE had leased number 25 Great George Street but took over the neighbouring premises in the 1890s. However shortly after the rebuilding of the Institute, the site was compulsorily purchased for Government Offices (HM Treasury) . In the early 1900s the ICE moved into premises at 1-7 Great George Street.

The Bedford Lemere daybook records the client as J H T Tudsbery.
