Description

Laurence Currie, of the famous banking firm of Glyn, Mills, Currie & Co., inherited Minley Manor from his father Bertrum in 1896. He undertook substantial modifications to the Manor including new lodges, water tower and alterations to the gardens and grounds. Upon his death in 1934, the estate was sold to the War Department, and in 1971 Minley Manor passed to the Royal Engineers. The Bedford Lemere daybook records George Devey as the architect of the house, referring to alterations undertaken by Devey in the 1880s.
