Description

The photograph was taken for architect John Archibald Campbell who was commissioned to design this holiday home for girls by William Ewing Gilmour, businessman and philanthropist. The house, built in 1898, was also known as either Jessamine Cottage, or Jessamine Lodge, commemorating his recently deceased daughter Jessie Campbell Gilmour.
