Description

The Municipal School of Technology, opened in October 1902, was designed by architects Spalding and Cross with building work commencing in 1895. It later became the main building of the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), before becoming the Sackville Street Building of the University of Manchester in October 2004. 'Manchester schools' is recorded on the original negative label.
