Description

The photograph was commissioned by the Well Fire Co. The location given in the daybook is City Arms, Birmingham. There is however no record of a City Arms in Birmingham or the surrounding towns at this period. There are however two public houses known as The City Arms in Coventry, one of which is still in existence. Birmingham has, elsewhere in the daybook, been given as a location for places in Sutton Coldfield and areas near Birmingham. Therefore Coventry is given as an alternative location
