Description

The Adelphi Terrace was a block of twenty-four terraced neoclassical townhouses, built by the Adam brothers between 1768 and 1772. According to the Bedford Lemere daybook, this photograph was commissioned by an 'R Carte', which may refer to a relative of Victorian impresario Richard D'Oyly Carte, who was a resident in the Adelphi Terrace until his death in the April of 1901.
