Description

Holmstead dates from about the 1840s. At the time the photograph was taken the house was the residence of William Imrie, Liverpool shipowner and owner of White Star Line. Above the fireplace in the billiard room is the F Baden-Powell painting 'Nelson Capturing a Spanish Ship at the Battle of St Vincent.
