The terrace of town houses at 17 to 21 Portland Place was designed by John Adam, along with his brothers and John Elwes, and was built between 1776 and circa 1780. The decorative relief elements on the ceiling were designed by Wedgwood and Sons, with the paintings executed by Angelica Kauffman. This photograph was taken for a Mrs Brodhurst, who may have been the occupier at the time.
