There had been a King's Head Hotel on this site in Change Alley since the early 18th century, although records show that it had been rebuilt at least once. The hotel was demolished at some point around the time of the second World War. The Bedford Lemere daybook records that this photograph was taken for a firm named 'Seligman and MacKay', but it is unclear what this firm did.
