The Baltic Exchange moved into these new premises in 1903, from its previous location at South Sea House in Threadneedle Street. This new building was designed by Smith and Wimble, and probably built by Trollopes Builders (they are recorded in the Bedford Lemere & Co daybook). The photograph was taken for Bedford Lemere & Co itself. This building has now been demolished and replaced by Norman Foster's building, nicknamed 'The Gherkin'.
