The photograph was taken for J Lyons and Company, and so the location is probably a restaurant operated by them. The Gutta Percha Company used the sap of the Gutta-percha tree to produce a natural latex product which, until superseded by polythene, was the predominant material used for insulating submarine telegraph cables.
