The background of this photograph has been stripped away during the development process to leave the image of the spinet on a white background, presumably to make it more easily and clearly reproduced in publicity materials. The photograph was commissioned by S and P Erard themselves, and may have been taken at their showrooms, although this cannot be confirmed.
