Description

Dorchester House, completed in 1857, is attributed to Lewis Vulliamy for R S Holford, although the Bedford Lemere daybook credits George Vulliamy, his nephew. In 1905, the house was rented to Whitelaw Reid, the American Ambassador. After service as a hospital during the Great War, it was demolished in 1929 to make way for the Dorchester Hotel.
