Description

The house was built for Sir W S Gilbert in 1882 by the architectural partnership of Ernest George and Peto, and was exceptional for its time in having a bathroom on every floor, extensive central heating and telephones. The photograph was commissioned by a Miss Schuster, who was the occupier of the house at the time.
