Description

A W Gamage's Portland stone department store buildings were designed by Joseph Sawyer, and were completed in 1905. Alfred Waterhouse's Prudential building was actually begun in 1879, but only completed in 1906. This photograph was taken for the National Radiator Company. Gamage's buildings no longer exist, but Waterhouse's building is still in use.
