Number 10 forms part of the palatial terrace built for Sir M W Riley in 1827-9 on the site of the former Carlton House. The original designs for the house were by John Nash and J Pennethorne. The architects Blow and Billerey designed the French style staircase seen in this image. The Second Viscount Ridley who is noted as the client for this photograph, had the staircase installed in 1908.
