The town hall was built to the designs of Sir Alfred Brumwell Thomas between 1904 and 1906, to serve the recently created County Borough of Stockport. The Bedford Lemere daybook records that this photograph was taken for H H Martyn of Cheltenham, who were well known architectural craftsmen when this photograph was taken.
