Description

The Bedford Lemere daybook records that the architect of the building was A Swash, FRIBA, which most likely refers to Alfred Swash, a Welsh architect. Swash also designed the Gwalia Hotel in Llandrindod Wells. This photograph was taken for Howell J Williams, possibly head of Howell J Williams Limited, a construction company based in Bermondsey.

Designs for the painted frieze visible above the fireplace in this picture can be seen in another Bedford Lemere and Company Limited photograph, BL20229.
