Description

The Peabody Cottages were built in 1907 by the Peabody Trust. The trust was established in 1862 under the patronage of American banker George Peabody, to provide accommodation for the working classes. The cottages were designed by W E Wallis, who had worked previously with the Peabody Trust, as had the builders William Cubitt and Company, who are recorded as clients for this photograph.
