Description

Aldwych was officially opened in 1905. Wych Street and Newcastle Street were demolished to make way for Aldwych as was the old Gaiety Theatre. The drawing here shows new buildings including the Waldorf Hotel and the Gaiety Theatre. Alexander Marshall MacKenzie is recorded as the architect in the Bedford Lemere daybook.
