Description

In 1910 Westminster City Council built this disinfecting station as part of the Gatliff Road Waste Disposal Depot. Until 1935, the waste was taken from the Gatliff Road Depot to tips on the outskirts of London. Thereafter waste was carried by barge to Pitsea in Essex and used to reclaim marshland.
