Description

Horton House originated as a medieval manor house built around two courtyards. After partial rebuilds during the late 17th century and again in 1740, it was demolished in 1936. This photograph was commissioned by the owner George Harold Winterbottom, who bought the estate in 1899 and lived there until his death in 1934, to show work carried out by the architect William Courtenay Le Maitre.
