The National Museum of Wales was founded in 1907. Construction of a new building to house its collections began in 1912, to the designs of Arnold Dunbar Smith and Cecil Brewer, finally opening in 1927. The Bedford Lemere daybook records the architect J F Groll as the client for this photograph, which presumably shows his proposal for the building.
