Description

Between 1906 and 1911 the entrance to Spring Gardens was extended and many of the buildings demolished to make way for Admiralty Arch, which was constructed as a ceremonial approach to Buckingham Palace. This photograph, taken for Ed Stanford, shows shoring in place to support the gable wall of number 55, after demolition of the adjoining properties to widen the entrance to Spring Gardens.
