Description

This photograph shows the expanded premises of Wright, Layman and Unmey Limited, manufacturers of Wright's Coal Tar Soap. The company moved to 50 Southwark Street in 1867, but in the early 1900s, as the business grew they leased the adjoining premises at 44, 46 and 48. G Street and Company (advertising agents) are recorded as the clients for this image, which was probably taken to show the advertising hoardings decorating the exterior of the building.
