Description

The Vandyck , built in 1911, was one of largest liners in the Lamport & Holt fleet, for whom this photograph was taken. She was captured by the German cruiser Karlsruhe on the 26th October 1914 whilst on a voyage between Buenos Aires and New York. She was sunk the following day after the Karlsruhe had emptied her of over 200 passengers and her cargo of frozen meat.
