The upmarket clothing retailer Austin Reed was founded in 1900 with the opening of its first store in London's Fenchurch Street. This photograph, commissioned by Austin Reed Ltd., shows the Birmingham shop designed by Percy James Westwood, who was also responsible for Austin Reed shops in London, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
In the Bedford Lemere daybook this negative appears to be numbered as BL22142/001.
